Last week, Mayor Jim Watson, Councillor Shad Qadri, Chair of the Ottawa Board of Health, Dr. Isra Levy, Medical Officer of Health, together with the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Canadian Public Health Association, Military Family Services, and the Mental Illness Caregivers Association (MICA) released The Mental Health Caregiver Guide.

Dr. Mario Cappelli attended the launch of the Mental Health Caregiver Guide, alongside colleagues, Benjamin Leikin and Julie Turcotte of the Ottawa Public Health, Mental Health Team. The guide was created with broad input from both local and national organizations and is intended to be a resource and “toolbox” for caregivers of those who are suffering with a mental illness.

Of special note is that our own Heather Bragg is acknowledged for her contribution to the development of the guide. The launch of this valuable resource coincided with Mental Health week which we discussed last week.
