Heather has worked in the field of psychology since 2004. She has experience in psychological intervention, assessment, teaching, and research. Heather enjoys working with youth, older teens and young adults and has gained practical experience in working with clients challenged by a variety of mental health problems and disorders. She has built her experience in a variety of settings including London Health Sciences Centre, Thames Valley District School Board in Southwestern Ontario, Champlain College in Quebec, and the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre and has had the opportunity to be involved in clinical program areas including first episode psychosis, complex learning disabilities & assessment, and those in the youth justice system.
Heather is dedicated to providing a safe and non-judgemental environment for all clients and families at Cappelli & Associates. She believes in building a trusting and supportive relationship with clients, and allowing space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences to ensure that the therapeutic approach will meet each individual’s needs. Heather has specific training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and draws upon a variety of other techniques in tailoring treatment to help reach specific therapy goals. Heather further enjoys mentoring and providing clinical supervision to new and aspiring graduates.
Heather earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, and is a candidate in the Doctorate of Psychology program at California Southern University. Heather is registered with the Ontario College of Psychologists & Psychological Associates.
Heather completed her Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts degrees at the University of Western Ontario.
